About Heliwest
The History of Heliwest
The Heliwest Group was established in 1992 by aviation practitioners and entrepreneurs Alan Bailey and David Grimes. A wholly owned and operated Australian business, Heliwest combines expertise and resources to provide premier aviation and engineering services. The fact that Alan and David are pilots themselves and hold qualifications in business management as well as aircraft engineering, encapsulates the holistic nature of Heliwest; developed from first principles, it has grown into one of Australasia’s leading helicopter companies and is now the largest onshore helicopter operator in Western Australia.
The company has a strategic alliance with Abu Dhabi Aviation thereby creating one of the world’s largest available fleets of commercial helicopters, capable of servicing major onshore and offshore contracts for clients across Australasia and around the globe. Additionally, Heliwest is an approved Check and Training Organisation and a Registered Training Organisation with ISO 9001-2001 accreditation. Having the largest flight school in Australasia, it is ideally placed to train pilots for private and commercial licences, as well as conducting safety checks of its own pilots and offering this service to other fleet operators.
On a daily basis, Heliwest provides both fixed-wing and helicopter services to a broad range of clients, in particular those in the mining and resources sector. The company’s identity and work ethic are instantly recognisable within the resources environment and many of the staff have a detailed knowledge of the industry. One of Heliwest’s key principles is “Work Safe, Fly Safe” ensuring that, in line with modern working practices, the company maintains its unblemished safety record whilst meeting its clients needs effectively and efficiently.
