Fire observation & Surveillance / Fire Mapping

In 2005 Heliwest introduced Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) technology to the Western Australian Government’s Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) in our contracted role as Aerial Reconnaissance. Coupled with mapping software, Heliwest trained FESA and its own staff to operate the equipment which greatly enhanced fire fighting reconnaissance over traditional ‘map and pencil’ methodologies.

We have also used our FLIR and mapping equipment to assist local councils to identify underground fires at waste treatment facilities and on ecological studies for nesting habitats.

The FLIR system we use has capability to have the temperature isotherm adjusted to suit client needs and having colour output makes interpretation of the data very easy.
