Heliwest has the ability to provide Medical Evacuation capabilities throughout Australia and South East Asia. Heliwest has successfully operated in this role in the harsh Pilbara region for clients such as NRW, FMG and BHP Billiton. These services have been conducted with a mix of B206L and AS350s.

The Pilbara EMS capability will soon be upgraded to a dedicated EMS IFR BO 105LS, which will be based permanently at BHP Billiton’s Redmont camp on 24/7 standby. This aircraft is an initiative by BHP Billiton to provide EMS cover for its personnel in the Pilbara, working with Heliwest and integrating into other agencies such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
