Surf Life Saving WA and Heliwest

Heliwest are proud to be using one their aircraft and experienced pilots as part of the new helicopter service that Surf Life Saving WA operate. This Shark Spotting patrol contract will add another component to the service that the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter provides to the community as it flies up the metropolitan coast.

With the helicopter's maneuverability, good viewing options, ability to fly at varying heights and to hover over potential sightings, the shark spotting service will be well equipped to protect beachgoers this summer. The Westpac Life Saver Helicopter is also fitted with GPS technology that can be used to pin-point potential sightings, as well as a siren to alert swimmers and the latest communication equipment to alert Surf Life Savers on the beach and Water Police.

Thanks to the State Government and The West Australian the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter will be in the air every day until the end of summer to keep an eye over swimmers and perform shark patrols.
